This weekend, we watched the NFL Draft nearly pick by pick to see where cousin Matt would go. He didn’t get selected in the draft but he did sign a free agent deal with the Carolina Panthers to play next to Cam Newton. The NFL draft brings a whole new definition to the word vulnerable. The Heugly’s are proud of the Reynolds (Lance Jr. briefly with the Seahawks, Dallas with the Eagles, and Matt with the Panthers) for what they have accomplished. It’s fun to support family. We get to continue to support Houston. Thankfully, they have an amazing sister who also keeps the family current. On a funny note, guys don’t worry Chicago was never interested in a 5’10” or 5’11” (does it really matter) center that weighed 210 his senior playing season. Can you imagine Kiper’s analysis on me? No college experience, balding Bears fan, six kids, an amazing wife (easy Kiper), blazing 5.2 40 speed, an optical inch vertical, and a mean Nielsen elbow hardwood game, could be a sleeper. Good luck to my cousins this year. I get to cheer for another team this year.

Stitches
Six kids, twelve years, no stitches. Until now.
Last week, we were having family night and playing a game with the kids. Annie was walking around the table when WHAM! She tripped and hit her forehead on the bench. Her head split open and began to bleed, Colin and Camri started to cry, blood started running down Annie’s face, and Annie started to cry.
I rushed her to the kitchen to clean the wound, thankfully it didn’t bleed very much after the initial gush because it was definitely deep enough to need stitches. She stopped crying and I called the Dr.’s office. Joe and I left the kids with Koko and took her to the pediatrician. I’m grateful it was a clean cut they could stitch her up there.
She was the only patient in the whole place, another blessing. The nurse weighed her, checked her out and put some numbing cream on the wound within minutes of us arriving. She was fine, not fussy or anything. I think she was happy to have Mom and Dad all to herself.
By the time I am writing this, her stitches are out. When I took her back to the Dr., she was still brave. She sat there and said, “Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow.” while they removed the stitches, but didn’t cry.
Good job brave Annie!!

Where’s Mom’s nose?
She was brave while she waited for the numbing cream to kick in and while they washed the wound. She only began to cry when she had to lay down for the actual stitches. Three stitches and a few minutes later, we were on our way. It was quick! Thank goodness, because we had to get home to make sure the other kids were okay. They did NOT like seeing their little sister get hurt and they were more upset than she was. By the time I am writing this, her stitches are out. When I took her back to the Dr., she was still brave. Hunger Games
And may the odds be ever in your favor!
This post is out of chronological order, but I just found this picture on my phone. Joe and I decided to take Koko and Emma to see Hunger Games. I’ve read the books, Koko’s read the books, Joe even read the first one. I’ve been looking forward to this movie a lot!
I am aware of the controversy surrounding this film and to that I say….nothing. We are all entitled to our opinion, yes?
We had a fun time with the girls. I even managed to whip up some mockingjay pin t-shirts for the occasion. At the theater we saw Liz, Christian, and some of their family and friends. We saw members of our ward, we saw one of Koko’s best friends along with her family….and every seat in the theater was full.
The movie was well-done, I loved it! The casting was spot-on and the acting was terrific. It’s nice to see a movie do justice to the book it was based on, and not cut corners in production… *cough*Twilight*cough.
Here’s to date night with the girls!!

More Easter
We love Easter, yes we do!
We had some wonderful lessons and talks in church today, it was a perfect way to celebrate Christ’s resurrection.
After church, we went to my parents house for a little while. We got to see lots of family, take some fun pictures, and catch up a little bit. Look how cute the table was!
Annie loves Grandpa…and hard-boiled eggs.
Grandma made some Easter eggs for all the grandkids…cute!
Yukon Jon is home after being in Alaska. Look at that beard!
Beautiful, beautiful Cheryl!
McBrides (minus Jake who is loving his mission!)
Awwwww.
Tanner was so funny, he did not want to pose for pictures. Look at Emily’s cute, teeny-tiny tummy…in fact, you can’t even tell, but they are having another boy!
The whole Easter Gang!!
We love Grandma and Grandpa!!
After a nice visit, we headed over to the Heugly’s for the annual Easter celebration…
Yummy dinner…thanks Sue!!
The cousins love each other so much, they all squished on one side of the table so they could eat together…
Time for the egg hunt!! Camri’s got her game face on and Emma’s trying to catch a peek of the eggs.
Annie found about four eggs, then just wanted to swing.
Hi Grandma!!
Beau also got distracted and just wanted to go down the slide over and over and over…
Who needs eggs when you have a swing right there?
The “Golden” egg was hidden very well. After all the other eggs were found, Grandpa started to give clues. You had to be on your hands and knees to find this one!
Kaeli found it buried under the grass and was suddenly $20 richer!! Colin even found a crystal egg (thanks to Justin) that had two $1 bills inside.
Camri was upset that she didn’t find any “money” eggs, so her awesome big brother gave her one of his dollars. I’m so proud of my boy.
Autumn found the most eggs!
Best cousins…
Let’s move on in for the Egg Decorating Contest!! You can feel the excitement…
Cute girls, cute cousins, giddy-up.
So many great eggs to vote for! Everyone that made an egg got three votes in the first round…

Which narrowed it down to the top five….this time you get two votes…
To narrow it down to the top three…
And the winner is…….the “Up” house!! Wow, I can’t believe I won!! Here’s last year’s winner passing off Grandpa’s trophy to this year’s winner…
I just want to thank the Academy…
Jake’s family showed up a little bit later, they drove straight from the airport after flying home from Florida. Alex lost her first tooth today!!
What better way to celebrate Easter then a little wrestling?
Even Beau and Bridger got in on it. They are so cute!!
It was a wonderful weekend with family and loved ones. We pondered with amazement on the sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the gifts he has given us that will allow us to be with our dear family forever and ever.
Happy Easter everyone!

Easter Begins!
Bright and early Easter morn, we got the kids ready and dressed. First things first! I thought it was smart to get them all ready before looking for Easter baskets, but as I watched Annie eat a chocolate bunny in her new dress, I started to rethink my strategy.
I think both the apron AND the bib helped avert a chocolate disaster. At least for a little while.
The kids had fun looking for their baskets and found them pretty quickly….except for Dakota. Finally, she looked in the microwave and there it was. She had everyone rooting for her while they ate their own candy.

Do we have time for a quick egg hunt? Why yes we do!

Cute kids! Koko’s feet got cold because she decided to take her wedges off so she could run. Bare feet=cold feet when it was snowing a few days ago!
Let’s take our Easter pictures!! Annie’s dress is made from Joe’s old shirt (skirt) and my old shirt (top)….she looks so cute!

Not sure what’s going on with his smile, but he looks sincere, no? What a handsome dude! I actually made his tie out of some extra dress fabric. Maybe he’s pretending to love his yellow tie?
Camri was a little sad that she didn’t find the golden egg, but she looked like a princess anyway.
Gosh, he’s handsome!! My little boy is getting so tall!
Emma looks flowy and beautiful. Yellow suits her just fine, I think.
Koko picked out this fabric and style of dress. She looks so grown-up and gorgeous!!
My six crown jewels.
Okay, now onto the 2nd annual Joe and Marci Heugly Easter Egg Decorating Contest. The eggs will later be entered into the family contest at Grandma and Grandpa’s house.
The entries are: Batman…

Winnie the Pooh…
A snake’s gotta eat too…(the egg is the mouse in the snake’s mouth)
Ballet slipper…
Happy Hunger Games. May the odds be ever in your favor! Mockingjay pin…
The “Up” House…
And Snack Attack….
Here are the top three after the first vote:
And the winner is….
Oh, I can’t believe I won! I’d like to thank those that voted for me! Here’s the trophy…
