We arrived Wednesday night, July 3. Everyone swam and ate and talked and played. Jake and Liz set up a big screen and we had a “Dive In Movie”…Pirates of the Caribbean. It was decorated like Jaws and the kids floated in the pool to watch the show. Us old fogers could sit on dry land on the other side of the screen and see it just fine. So fun!!

Joe had reserved the basement room for our family, so we set the kids up on the floor and we got the bed, naturally. In order to calm them down, we turned on a movie. Since we didn’t bring any, I just used what was in the player…”Who wants to watch Wild Hogs??” “Meeee!!”
Worked like a charm, but we still got to bed late.

The next morning, we got up bright and early to discover that it had rained all night. Hard. The devoted ones that slept in tents ended up moving inside because of the storm. We rallied a few people and had our third annual Heugly Freedom 5K. Ethan, Dallas, Mark Jr., Joe, and I all ran about 3 miles. It was humid and hard, but totally fun!
We ate yummy breakfast and got back in the pool.

Look!! It’s all the brothers in the pool at the same time!! Miracle!

Yummy barbecue, salad, fruit, chips, and more for lunch…

Presenting, the kid’s 4th of July outfits…all homemade except for Koko’s pants and the boy’s shirts. Ta-da!
