EMMA is 10!!?!

Well, now we have two kids in double digits.

Our sweet little miniature turned 10 the day after Mother’s Day.  We started the day with breakfast in bed….GF pancakes. Annie’s eyeballing those chocolate chips…DSC02959

She got one gift in the morning…a swimsuit for our first swim of the season tonight!DSC02961

She had to scurry off to school so we could finish the rest of her “gifts”.  When she got home, she helped me make some cute cupcake toppers for our ballerina girl.  DSC02962

Colin wanted to help, so he made the ballet slipper on top.  What a nice brother! DSC02966

Pizza and wings are what the birthday girl ordered…DSC02967

But Annie just wanted a cupcake…DSC02969

Finally, the big reveal.  We redecorated Emma’s room for her birthday.  She keeps it so clean and organized, we never really got around to hanging her stuff up.  So, she got new curtains, sheets, and bedspread, and some new decorations for the wall.  I think she liked it. DSC02970

Her final birthday wish was to drop off the extra cupcakes to a few of her friends.  This girl is always thinking of others.

Happy Birthday Emma-girl!! We love you so much!!

Mother’s Day

I love Mother’s Day, I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again.  I love a day where the world celebrates Moms.  Everyone’s talking about their Mom, thanking their Mom, thinking of their Mom.  It’s a day where a generally thank-less job gets loads of thanks.  And since being a Mom is what I do twenty-four hours a day, it’s nice to hear that Moms Rock.  And since I have an amazing Mom and Mother-in-Law, it’s nice to give them an official shout-out.  It’s a good day.

Saturday was my day.  Joe and I woke up early and went golfing.  We had the place to ourselves and Joe taught me some techniques.  I actually hit the ball a few times…

We got home in time to race over to the park for Colin’s 9:00 soccer game.  He played really well!  Camri had a bye, so we were done with soccer for the day.

We got home and they were there with our new sod and trees.  We spent a couple of hours putting in our front yard, planting flowers, and fixing sprinklers.  It looked so good when we were done!

As we were working in the yard, Beau decided to give me a special gift….doing the dishes.  Not bad for a three-year-old!DSC02930

We had some lunch and played with the kids for a while, then got ready for the big date.

Joe bought tickets to the VIP lounge at Jordan Commons to see The Avengers.  The theater seats about 50 people in oversized arm-chairs.  The back has two full-sized sectionals, and the middle has a row of recliners.  That’s where we sat.  We showed up early to order off the special menu.  Joe had a burger and I had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich.  Spicy fries and onion rings on the side.  In the theater, Joe found a basket of blankets, so he got one for each of us.  There was a baby grand player piano playing some soothing classical tunes while we waited.  IMG-20120512-00232

The waiter brought us drinks, dessert, and popcorn…right to our seat!  We used the attached tables to hold our food.  It was awesome!

And the movie?  Fantastic!  We had seen all the applicable super-hero movies before hand, and that helped.  Iron Man 1 and 2, Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor.  In fact, Friday night, I reserved Thor at Redbox so we could watch it (I hadn’t seen it yet).  While I was at McDonald’s picking it up, I saw our friend from the ward.  We chatted and he said, “Next time, don’t rent it, call me, we have tons of movies!”  Super nice guy.  Well, long story short, we were unable to rent Thor, we went to two other places to find it with no luck.  So I called Doug.  He gladly let us borrow his movie and saved the day.  Our own superhero!

It was fun to watch a movie, fully reclined, feet up, wrapped in a blanket and snuggling with my Joe.  IMG-20120512-00234

This was a Mother’s Day I will never forget!

The next day was officially Mother’s Day. We attended our church meetings and had some great lessons and talks.  They passed out Blue Lemon cookies to all the women at the end of the meetings, very sweet!  My cute kids had cleaned up the house the night before and had a special surprise for me… a banner, some gifts, and some cards.  Awesome!!DSC03011

DSC03012DSC03013After church, we went home, grabbed a lasagna, a salad, and a gluten-free dish for Emma and headed over to my parents house.  They had quite the turn out!  It was fun to visit and laugh and eat.  All the men gave beautiful tributes to their wives and to Mom, it was very touching.  Nathan talked about Lori, Jesse talked about Brittany, Brad talked about Emily, Joe talked about me, Jon talked about Cheryl, Anthony talked about Kristi, and Dad talked about Mom.  It was very cool.  DSC02940DSC02937

DSC02943DSC02945DSC02951Nate, taking a page out of Emma’s book…DSC02952As Dad was still talking, Joe rushed out to the backyard and a moment later I heard Beau crying an “owie” cry.  He came inside and his nose was bleeding, he had been bitten by the neighbor’s dog.  Lori, the nurse, and Brad, the doctor, rushed to his aid and helped me calm him down and take care of him.  They had kicked a ball over the fence and Beau was trying to see it through the fence when the husky came up and nipped him.  It left four puncture marks, but it certainly could’ve been a lot worse.  He’s a tough kid, and did okay after he stopped freaking out.  Now all he talks about are huskies.  At least he still likes dogs.

The neighbor was sweet and came over to apologize.  It’s just one of those things that happen, he’ll be okay…DSC02987

We left on that traumatic note, but we really did have a lovely time with the family.

At home, we (Joe) put the finishing touches on dinner…ribs, mac and cheese, veggies…His parents and brother came and we had a nice dinner.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world!!  Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful women in the world…mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend…we do a great work.  Yes we do.

Annie?

Love the new ‘do, darling.DSC02900

Careful, you could poke somebody’s eye out!

Beau?

Even if you want to play with Camri’s birthday present from her friend… DSC02823
I don’t give a hoot.  You’re very cute!

Let’s go to the park!

It’s been so nice outside, we have spent quite a bit of time at the park.  I don’t have a lot of pictures, but we sure have fun!
Annie doesn’t pay attention to the age limit, she just climbs whatever she feels like climbing….that’s her pink shirt in the background.  That kid is fearless.
Beau looks so handsome with his water bottle…DSC02891
Camri and her cute friends have a very good imagination.  They built this fire pit so they could roast marshmallows.  Cute!DSC02892
We’ll be back…and back again….and again….

Yum!

Sometimes you just need a cazookie and some James Bond.  We had James Bond week and watched “For Your Eyes Only”, “The World is Not Enough”, “License To Kill”, and “Goldfinger”.  Obviously, you need yummy dessert…

And sometimes, you can even make a yummy gluten-free version…DSC02888
The kid’s favorite movie was, surprisingly, “Goldfinger”.  I think they especially liked the song….waah, waaaaaaah, waah.  Their least favorite was “The World is Not Enough”….mmm, Pierce Brosnan?  I’m not surprised.
My name is Bond.  James Bond.

Soccer is afoot!

I think this is Colin’s fourth year playing soccer, he’s getting the hang of it and is pretty good (if you ask his unbiased Mother)…
DSC02866He plays the Goalie position and has blocked most shots.  If the other team scores, he is pretty devastated and tries harder not to let that happen again in the game. The team that beat them by 16 last year, only scored 3 on Colin this year because he blocked every other attempt they made.  That’s the most any team has scored on him so far this season.  I’m so proud!  Go Red Dragons!DSC02864Joe is the assistant coach and stays by the Goal most games to coach Colin.  At the last game, Colin told him, “It’s okay Dad, you don’t have to tell me anymore, I know what to do.”  I love these boys!DSC02334
Mike coaches both Colin and Camri’s team, and Joe is assistant coach for both. Mike has been an incredible coach this year and really has the teams pulling together. We love Coach Mike!DSC02873DSC02867Camri likes playing, but mostly she likes getting dressed for the game.  She has fun playing with her friends and leaves the competitiveness to the rest of her team.  Go Purple Dolphins!DSC02837
